Outstanding Achievement Award

Aidan McHughaw ’25 (2022)

As a Sophomore Aidan has managed to truly embody Brotherhood, Scholarship and Character. He makes everyone feel welcome at the house and as rush chair he led a successful rush, it could be said that he saved the house. He is always willing to assist in philanthropy events and is a pillar of the house, someone that the brothers can rely on. No one can deny his dedication to scholarship either as he has the highest GPA in the chapter.

Julian Casanova ’22 (2021)

Julian is a senior who is highly involved with the fraternity. This last semester he has spearheaded a successful rush and has worn many hats at the house. Where he stands out is in raising the bar and making others want to raise the bar too. Due to his exceptional focus on scholarship he’ll be graduating a semester early so the chapter will be wishing him farewell this winter.

CHRIS GOULD ’22 (2020)

Chris is a Sophomore who is highly involved in the fraternity and school clubs. He’s taken an eboard position in his first year and always addresses issues at the house. Having served as philanthropy chair at the house and multiple clubs and willing to help brothers at the drop of a hat he’s shown true character. You can always find Chris helping brothers at the housing be it with homework, late night snacks or last minute rides he’s always willing to go the extra mile.

Christopher Bacallao ’20 (2019)

Christopher is a senior Civil Engineering major from Miami, Florida. During his time with Phi Sigma Kappa, he has served on several house positions, including President, Vice President and Rush Chair. Chris has a knack for addressing issues that occur within the Chapter and fining the quickest and most effective way to solve them. His most notable achievements include planning three entire recruitment efforts for Phi Sigma Kappa leading to the growth of the house, and focusing on solving problems that occur in brothers lives, allow them to strive for greatness, and always ensuring that they are achieving their greatest potential.

Thomas Donlon II ’19 (2018)

Thomas is a alumni brother and Physics major from Minnesota who has committed his time and service to Phi Sigma Kappa. He has sat for several Chapter positions, including multiple terms as Chapter Inductor. Thomas is a friend to all and has taken his passion for the Chapter as a commitment to help educate and involve its newest members. A generation of Phi Sigs are present at RPI thanks to his involvement. Thomas is continuing his studies at RPI for a PhD in Physics with a focus on Astronomy.

Mathew yale ’19 (2017)

Matthew is an Electrical Engineering major from New Jersey. During his time with Phi Sigma Kappa, he has served on several house positions, including Secretary and Vice President. Matthew attends to house responsibilities with dedication and enthusiasm. His most notable achievement includes co-planning the Phi Sigma Kappa Addiction Awareness Summit, an event that saw members of RPI Greek Life and Troy community organizers come together for a forum on substance abuse, which included a panel of speakers and a bystander intervention activity session.

ANTHONY CAFARO ’24 (2022)

Anthony has been working tirelessly as President to balance Scholarship and his duty to the chapter. His tireless efforts paid off as he had the most improved GPA this year.

Jesse is a senior studying Aerospace Engineering graduating this spring. 

CHRISTER HERRMANS ’21 (2020)

Christer is a senior Biology major from New Jersey initiated into Phi Sigma Kappa in the fall of 2017. Christer is committed to both his academics and his fraternity holding positions such as house manager and president. He spends his spare time working as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home or riding his motorcycle. Christer was able to improve his academic performance in the spring of 2020 and will be graduating in 2021.

Julian Casanova ’22 (2019)

Julian is a sophomore Industrial Engineering major from Rhode Island who was initiated into RPI’s Phi Sigma Kappa Chapter in the Fall of 2019. He enjoys playing music, cooking food, and various DIY projects. Julian is known for his interior decorating skills, laid-back and friendly personality, and keen ability to find and obtain things he needs for cheap and often free. Julian rose to the challenge of a packed course load during his summer semester in RPI’s flagship Summer Arch program, thus awarding him this achievement.

Sebastian Torres-Galvan ’19 (2018)

Sebastian is an alumni brother and Biomedical Engineering major. One of the more socialite brothers in recent years, Sebastian has planned several formal and social events with various other members of the Chapter to promote brotherhood, and is a vibrant addition to the Chapter’s social environment. Nevertheless, he remains committed to his school work, and outperformed himself in the Spring of 2018 to receive this award. Sebastian continues his studies at RPI for his Master’s in Biomedical Engineering.

 Morgan Larkin ’18 (2017)

Morgan is an alumni brother and Computer Science major from California. In addition to his work in the fraternity and as a student, Morgan worked this past summer at a camp teaching computer science concepts such as Machine Learning to 13 to 17 year old students. Morgan showed vast improvement his Junior year, with his GPA increase between the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters getting him this award.
